If I don't see anything about a load order I tend to do test runs to see if I get any crash logs on start up. Instead I just put them in the same order they need to be in using ZDL.

Most of the time the mod pages, or read me files will let you know the order to put them in if you use the ini method. Автор сообщения: PizmoHow do you know the order in which the files need loaded? I give you an example of my own load order that I am currently using to play the Brutal Doom: Hell on Earth Starter Pack with. Not doing so in that order will make the HD pack overide the level and extra textures files making them not load properly. Well you would have to first set the HD Texture Pack to load first then Brutal Doom V20b, Hell on Earth level wad, and finally the Extra Textures wad. Say for example you want to run Brutal Doom Hell on Earth Starter Pack with Doom HD Texture Pack. The main reason for ZDL is to organize mod load order to help prevent conflicts between mods. You can actually set ZDL to start up Zandronum, GZDoom, or any other mod supported source port and it will load everything for you. ZDL is a mod manager where as Zandronum is a source port made to run Doom's main iwad files. is the difference between ZDL and Zandronum? Finally you can set up individual source ports so if you need to run an older version for one mod you can do so. You can even save the load order to a file so you can switch between mod loadouts on the fly, and select what iwad you want to use.

Автор сообщения: ExiledAlchemistIf you are getting into playing modded Doom I suggest using ZDL 3.2.2.3 it allows you to use multiple types of mods at the same time So you can use the HD textures, sounds, voxels, custom map pwad, and overhaul pwads all in one go without needing to edit an ini file. Автор сообщения: King SlumlordOkay, here you go.ĭoes anyone know any good tutorials that teach dummies like myself exactly what everything is and where to put it This guide helped me alot. I'd ether just get an error when trying to launch them or it would just load regular doom.ĭoes anyone know any good tutorials that teach dummies like myself exactly what everything is and where to put it I tried a few different mods last night but I couldn't really get any of them to work right. But as I said I'm still learning how all this works. Still, this list should keep you occupied for a while. There are a lot more, but I just listed the ones, that I name off at the top of my head. HDoom (Unless you're a pervert, or you just want a laugh, then you should stay away from this one) The reason why mappers will use different IWADs at times is because they want to use specific texture sets at times.Автор сообщения: PizmoYes please do Okay, here you go.

When you drag it onto GZDoom, simply run the IWAD it corresponds to (Doom, Doom 2, Plutonia or TNT). This can be quickly discerned by checking out the WAD's txt file or in the information they posted on the thread if that's where you got the PWAD from. Here, I've made a video for The very first thing you need to figure out is what IWAD the PWAD you're trying to load was made with. "MAP E1M4" or "MAP MAP18" into the console using the tilde key and then press enter.

After you've figured out what map the PWAD runs on, start the game as normal (choosing your difficulty and such) then type eg. PWADs made for Doom 1 will usually say something like "E1M4" and those made for Doom 2, Plutonia or TNT will simply say something like, "MAP01" or whatever. If the WAD you want to play doesn't show up immediately upon starting, this means the mapper designated the PWAD to a certain map slot that you can also find from looking at the PWAD's txt file where they will usually note which map slot it may be for.
